Journey
Founded on the principles of sustainability and community support, The Hens Roost has grown from a simple farmer’s market stall to a cornerstone of Bakersfield’s local food scene. We proudly operate the River Lakes Farmer’s Market and Haggin Oaks Farmer’s Market at Kaiser Permanente, bringing the freshest local produce right to your doorstep.

Fighting Hunger, Nourishing Communities
Our passion goes beyond just selling food. As the founder of the AppleCore Project, a dedicated 501(c)(3) non-profit, we’re committed to ending hunger locally. We believe in the power of sustainable growing methods, food pantries, and food distributions, and we’ve partnered with food banks and community allies to make this vision a reality. Through these efforts, we’re teaching the importance of farm-to-fork eating, advocating for healthier diets, and ensuring food access for all.

Haggin Oaks Farmer’s Market
Sundays, 9AM – 2PM
Haggin Oaks Farmers Market is held at Kaiser Permanente, on Ming Ave and Haggin Oaks Blvd. Sunday’s market runs from 9am – 2pm, every week and offers a prime example of what other cities are trying to replicate. The San Joaquin Valley has been called “The Bread Basket of the World” and every week we get to enjoy what we grow. Keeping with Kaiser’s commitment of “helping to create a healthier community”. We show up week after week bringing you the best that California has to offer. Bakersfield is full of local farmers, small batch food crafters, artists and small business owners who make up this #sundayfunday and put Bakersfield on the map for being #localvores!
